This course provides valuable and in-depth investment accounting training. The course covers the major concepts that impact how governments account for investments, as well as the financial reporting requirements under current GASB pronouncements. The two-day class also includes investment terminology, types of investment vehicles, and a discussion of internal controls surrounding investment transactions. Amy Meyer is a California CPA and Partner with Maze & Associates in Pleasant Hill, a firm that specializes in municipal and nonprofit audit, as well as tax and accounting services. Amy graduated from the University of the Pacific with a B.S. in Accounting and a minor in Information Systems and joined Maze & Associates in 1993. Amy has focused on municipal and special district audits throughout her career. She has also been involved with a number of accounting and GASB implementation training classes customized to client needs. Amy serves on the Governmental Accounting and Auditing Committee of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, which provides practical guidance to CPAs in the area of governmental accounting and auditing in an effort to improve the quality of financial reporting of governmental entities. The Committee, along with the California Committee on Municipal Accounting, also issues white papers and government industry alerts offering guidance on California-specific implementation issues to CPA firms and governmental entities, such as the recent white paper related to the implementation of GASB 84.
Alaynè Marie Sampson joined Chandler Asset Management in 2022 as a Senior Portfolio Strategist. She is a member of the Investment Management Team and participates actively in the portfolio management process, as well as building and maintaining client relationships. Alaynè has over 20 years of investment and financial experience. She focuses on identifying and communicating key investment related themes and trends for implementation into fixed income strategies for local government and institutional clients. Prior to joining Chandler, Alaynè was a Senior Short-Term Credit Analyst, where she was responsible for fundamental credit analysis of commercial paper issuers for a $135 billion cash portfolio. Other roles include Business Project Manager, TAP Associate, and Senior Business Systems Analyst. Alaynè is currently the Vice Chair of the Board, Treasurer, and Finance Chair of the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Los Angeles non-profit. Alaynè is a graduate of Cornell University with her B.A. in Women’s Studies. She holds the FINRA Series 65 license.
