Description

Intermediate Governmental Accounting Course
A CSMFO Core Course

The Intermediate Governmental Accounting/Financial Reporting class welcomes all accountants who are new to the government sector and anyone who would like to gain a better understanding of governmental accounting and financial reporting.  The course focuses on the year-end close process and annual financial reporting, in addition to a review of certain governmental accounting concepts.  Participants with new or expanding responsibilities for government accounting and financial reporting are encouraged to attend.  To obtain the maximum benefit from this course, attendees should have previously attended the CSMFO Introduction to Governmental Accounting course, or equivalent.

The course will be delivered in three virtual sessions:
Session I:  Tuesday, April 15, 2025, 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Session II:  Monday, April 21, 2025, 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Session III:  Tuesday, April 29, 2025, 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

This class is limited to 60 participants.  Advance registration is required for this class.

Continuing Professional Education:  Attendees earn 9 hours of CPE Credit (Accounting & Auditing, Government) by attending all sessions.  Attendees must attend all sessions to obtain CPE credit.
 

Cost:  $200 for CSMFO members

Irwin Bornstein is a municipal finance consultant and interim executive, serving local governments in Orange County and throughout Southern California.  Irwin retired in 2011 from his position as Assistant City Manager/Director of Administrative Services for the City of Mission Viejo, after working for there for 23 years.  Prior to his work with Mission Viejo, Irwin served the City of Whittier as its City Controller, he was Assistant Finance Director for the City of Anaheim, and was a Senior Consultant/Auditor for the national accounting firm of Ernst and Ernst (now Ernst and Young).  Irwin is a Certified Public Accountant.  He obtained his B.A. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and a Masters in Business Administration degree from Stanford University.  He is a past president of CSMFO and a recipient of its Distinguished Service Award.
